The new law makes majority of the holidays &#8220;movable&#8221; to Mondays. In the event the holiday falls on a Wednesday, the holiday will be observed on the Monday of the week. If the holiday falls on a Sunday, the holiday will be observed on the Monday that follows. Still, for movable holidays, the President shall issue a proclamation, at least six months prior to the holiday concerned, the specific date that shall be declared as a nonworking day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>The following are the dates of <b>regular holidays<\/b> under RA 949:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>New year&#8217;s Day (January 1)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Maundy Thursday (Movable date)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Good Friday (Movable date)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Eidul Fitr (Movable date)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"http:\/\/visitpinas.com\/corregidor-island-araw-ng-kagitingan\/\" target=\"_blank\">Araw ng Kagitingan<\/a> (Monday nearest April 9)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Labor Day (Monday nearest May 1)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"http:\/\/visitpinas.com\/independence-day-philippine-holiday\/\" target=\"_blank\">Independence Day<\/a> (Monday nearest June 12)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>National Heroes Day (Last Monday of August)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"http:\/\/visitpinas.com\/bonifacio-day-november-30-in-honor-of-andress-bonifacio\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bonifacio Day<\/a> (Monday nearest November 30)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"http:\/\/visitpinas.com\/christmas-in-the-philippines\/\" target=\"_blank\">Christmas Day<\/a> (December 25)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Rizal Day (Monday nearest December 30)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>On the other hand, the following are <b>nationwide special holidays<\/b>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Ninoy Aquino Day (Monday nearest August 21)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>All Saints Day (November 1)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Last Day of the Year (December 31)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>As expected, some welcome this new law, while others criticize it.
